Overview:
CavClear® total-wall air space maintenance and moisture control systems prevent mortar droppings, mortar bridging and weep obstructions to provide reliable protection against mold, mildew and other moisture-related failures in masonry walls. CavClear products are NOT installed solely at the flashing levels; they are installed throughout the full height of the masonry to ensure a continuous, mortar-free area for drainage and ventilation. CavClear provides the only complete, patented solution to protect weeps AND prevent mortar bridges. CavClear is made with 100% recycled plastic and is Energy Star and LEED rated. Halfway is no way to protect masonry walls — specify CavClear®, the one total-wall air space system that ensures top protection.

CavClear® Insulation System
|
CavClear Masonry Mat or Stone Mat is factory-bonded to rigid insulation to produce this comprehensive full-height air space and moisture-management solution. The Mat will not allow mortar to make contact with the insulation. The CavClear Insulation System is installed full-height behind brick or stone in an insulated masonry wall to provide a continuous drainage area.
A properly functioning drainage system is the prerequisite for a masonry design to achieve maximum thermal efficiencies and reduced maintenance and repair costs. Mortar obstructions and droppings that impede drainage are completely prevented by installing full-height protection using the CavClear Insulation System.

CavClear® Masonry Mat
|
CavClear Masonry Mat is installed full-height behind brick to provide a continuous drainage area for moisture management. A properly functioning drainage system is the prerequisite for a masonry design to achieve maximum thermal efficiencies and reduced maintenance and repair costs.
CavClear Masonry Mat not only protects the weeps in a masonry design, it also addresses mortar obstructions throughout the height of the air space. Mortar bridges are problematic anywhere in the wall, not just at the flashing levels.
Mortar obstructions and droppings which impede drainage are completely prevented by installing full-height protection using CavClear Masonry Mat.

CavClear® Weep Vents
|
CavClear Weep Vents are available in a variety of colors to blend with mortar. They are installed in vertical joints (open-head weeps) of brick masonry units at 24" (609.6 mm) spacing at the flashing level for moisture drainage and airflow. They prevent insects from entering and add visual continuity to open-joint weeps.
The unique notch feature of CavClear Weep Vents facilitates rapid drying. Open-head joint weeps increase ventilation over rope wicks. For better pressure equalization, install weep vents at both the top and bottom of the wall.

CavClear® Stone Mat
|
A continuous drainage area behind stone is beneficial to the long-term performance of the wall. No wall is waterproof. Wind-driven rain will find its way behind stone through penetrations, hairline fractures, cement mortar and, depending on the stone porosity, through the stone itself. Additionally, condensation can produce moisture on the backside of stone. Therefore, it is important to manage the water that will undoubtedly be part of the wall system.
Water management can be effectively achieved by providing properly designed and constructed weep holes and selecting the appropriate vapor barrier and flashing materials. However, if moisture is unable to reach this system, it will be trapped within the wall where it can damage the wall's performance and integrity. A continuous drainage area will direct moisture to the flashing and weeps where it can exit the wall.
While a continuous air space behind stone is recommended, the longstanding issue has been constructability. Professionals specializing in stone masonry will explain that it is not feasible to provide a drainage/ventilation area behind stone unless that drainage area is maintained by some material during the construction of the stone veneer. CavClear Stone Mat provides a continuous area that will allow water to reach the flashing and weep system.
