This package provides rigging equipment for a high school stage with a fly tower. The fly tower and rigging allows scenery to be “flown” in and out of the view of the audience to create scene changes. The basic high school is ideal for plays, choral and band performances.

This package provides rigging equipment for a small proscenium stage that does not have a fly tower. This type of stage is typically part of a small auditorium or a mixed use space such as a cafetorium or gymatorium. It’s ideal for lectures, choral or small band performances, skits, or class plays that do not require flown scenery.

PowerLift®
Automated rigging systems are widely used in schools, colleges and professional theatres. PowerLift hoists offer a range of speeds, capacities, mounting options, and control systems that fit the needs of most theatres.
The SceneControl family of consoles lets the operator pre-program every action, while maintaining the operator’s ability to override any movement. Several levels of SceneControl consoles are available, offering different features.

Traditional, counterweighted rigging systems have been in use for over 80 years. They’re based on balancing the load with steel counterweights, and pulling ropes to initiate movements. A loading gallery is a necessity for loading and unloading the counterweights.
Motorized PowerAssist® hoists are provided for the lighting sets, as they are typically moved the most and carry the largest loads.
This is the lowest cost type of rigging, but it requires the most manpower, training, and skill to operate.

Fire Safety Curtains

Fire curtains provide a barrier between the stage and auditorium, inhibiting the passage of heat, smoke, and fire to meet IBC, UBC, or NFPA 80 requirements. Straight lift curtains are used when the clear interior height in the stage house is at least 4’ greater than twice the proscenium height.

Fire curtains provide a barrier between the stage and auditorium, inhibiting the passage of heat, smoke, and fire to meet IBC, UBC, or NFPA 80 requirements. Brail fire curtains are used when the clear interior height in the stage house is insufficient for a straight lift fire curtain.

Drum hoists are the simplest and most widely used motorized hoists. They are usually a dead haul type of hoist, where the entire load is supported by the hoist, without the use of counterweights.
Line shaft hoists are self-contained units with a separate drum for each lift line.

Point hoists offer the flexibility of rope spot lines with the speed and capacity of a motorized set. The ultimate in flexibility, point hoists offer an individual hoist for each lift line. Also known as motorized spot lines, point hoists provide a versatility that is not available from rows of parallel battens. With individual control of each lift line, you can twist and turn scenic elements for effect. Or, multiple hoists can be synchronized, so that several point hoists can lift a single scenic piece.

Pile-up or Yo-yo hoists allow the lift line to wrap on top of itself in a narrow slot. This type of hoist is normally used for low loads in applications such as banner hoists. They may also be used when there are space problems that preclude the use of drum type hoists.

Custom hoists are available in almost any speed and capacity to meet your specific requirements. Tell us about your requirements and we'll work with you to develop the hoist you need.
