Overview:
OSLO America is the exclusive U.S. managing sales department of OSLO Doors and Windows Ltd.

OSLO has been producing windows and doors for nearly thirty years. Today our organization is one of a small handful of high end manufacturers who successfully provide 100% custom made hardwood windows and doors nation wide. Our focus is on high performance, furniture grade, doors and windows for high-end custom homes, landmark replication, and replacement of monumental historic windows in Government buildings and institutions.

OSLO's custom fenestration is especially sought after by architects who design projects in locations vulnerable to strong weather conditions. We have a strong presence in most coastal regions of the U.S. and surrounding islands. We have also provided replacement windows and doors in many historic land marks such as the Smithsonian institute, the U.S. Naval Observatory and other public and private buildings from Washington D.C. through New York to Boston.

Green Product Data for Continental Series Windows

Tilt and Turn

OSLO-America, Inc. Tilt and Turn<BR><BR>

Tilt and turn window systems are recognized the world over as the highest performance fenestration available. OSLOs sash profiles are a standard 2 1/4 inch thick. The Euro step-down profile, sash to frame, makes the sash overlap frame on the interior and frame overlap sash exterior. This double coverage coupled with a welded total surround weatherseal plus an adjustable multi-point locking system creates such a tight stable combination that functional sashes can be made up to 32 square feet!

Euro Outswing

OSLO-America, Inc. Euro Outswing<BR><BR>

OSLOs Euro outswing is structurally a tilt and turn with only the turn function and made as an outswing. Like the tilt and turn it can be made in monumental sizes and is always in the highest performance catagory. OSLOs standard sash profiles for this model are a standard 2 1/4 inch thick. The Euro step-down profile, sash to frame, makes the sash overlap frame on the exterior and frame overlap sash interior. This double coverage coupled with a welded total surround weatherseal, plus an adjustable multi-point locking system creates such a tight stable combination that it will perform equal or better than the tilt and turn.

Americana Series Windows

Old English (Outswing)

OSLO-America, Inc. Old English (Outswing)

The Old English window offers an old world antique charm in appearence and function. At the same time it is engineered in some ways like a door which increases performance. The sashes are 2 1/4 inch thick and take a full one inch insulated glass while offering a narrower site line in sash width. The standard hinges will hold in excess of 150 lb. Even the Q-lon weatherseal is more commonly found in quality door construction, plus OSLOs triple comb joint found in all their sash construction has 70 percent more gluing surface than the common mortace and tennon. All these features allow for our ability to make functional monumental sizes.

Double or Triple Hung

OSLO developed the first tested grade 60 hung window system in the U.S. market. Over one hundred monumental units are installed throughout the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington D.C. We have produced hung sashes so large and heavy they had to be wench driven to lift them. Our newest and proudest development in this series is a totally hidden balance double hung w/ propriatory balances milled into the sash jambs. They have our grade 60 weatherseal system and can be made with sashes up to 110 pounds, yet look delicate and traditional.

Crank-out Casement

OSLO-America, Inc. Crank-out Casement<BR><BR>

Crank-out casements inherently are more limited in sash size than OSLOs Old English or Euro sash profiled designs because there are weight and wind load limitations on typical articulating TRUTH scissor hinge and crank gear hardware. Designers specify crank casements for their narrow sash profiles, and the fact that they can be operated without opening or removing a screen. This all translates into price economy too.

Awning

OSLOs Americana Series designates the typical traditional American style of the sash and frame components. The sashes are milled square and designed to swing to and from the outside to fit into the frame flush with the outsideface of the frame as opposed to the Euro overlapping profiles, (Continental Series). Double windows typically have a fixed center post but a French double casement with no center post is an option. Solid bronze single arm cranks or push rods are sash operator options.

Folding Doors

OSLOs folding doors are as tight a Euro french door. Top hung precision wheel carraiges allow for easy, quiet, smooth, operation. Each section is equipped with multipoint locking and weatherseals top to bottom insuring high performance tightness under any weather conditions.

Lift-Slide Doors

OSLO-America, Inc. Lift-Slide Doors<BR><BR>

Our lift-slide doors are very high performance. Their many sash function options are popular with designers in seaside locations and OSLO has many projects in island communities. Doors can be rolled and stacked in one or two directions, left satcked behind a fixed panel or totally out of sight in wall pockets. Doors can be opened from the corner of a room and rolled away in two directions leaving no corner post. OSLO has even installed tilt & turn windows into lift slide door sashes for added ventilation options. When the door is settled down to its closed and locked position the weight of the entire sash is on the lowest, most vulnerable threshold weather seal.

American Series Doors

French Doors

Our French doors are very high performance and can have the tilt & turn operation at no extra cost. Any models can be complimented with functional or fixed transoms or sidelights in most any shape or size. Double French doors have 2 1/4 inch thick sashes, both can open with no center post. The door leafs normally have 1 inch tempered, insulated, low E glass, however, raised or flat engineered wood panels are available. The balcony door model offers 3" wide stiles and head rail with handle inside only. Wood swing screen doors have standard 1 3/4 inch thick sashes with charcoal fiberglass mesh but any kind of mesh is optional unless specified. A standard solid brass lever handle is provided with every door.

Formal Entry Doors

The Americana Series door leafs are square cut as opposed to the Euro overlapping sash to frame system. The stiles and rails are generally five to 7 inch wide hung on ball bearing butt hinges and the locking is often a single mortised latch and deadbolt, (though multipoint is optional). Frame jambs are from 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inch depending on door size and weight. Jamb depth is always custom as is wood or glass panel design. Weather seal is most often Q-lon.

Curtain Walls

Curtain walls by nature are walls of light; from outside and vista visibility from inside; the less structural interference the more of both are available. Therefore, skeletal structure and shadow lines are necessary but ideally kept at a minimum. OSLO has developed design methods that meet the highest standards for stable structure and insuring insulated high
