Overview:
Roof hugger™ is the only single piece retro-fit sub-purlin attachment system on the market today. They provide a proven structurally correct connection between the existing building and new screwdown or standing seam roof system.
Huggers are produced in 10' lengths by a special high-speed computer controlled punch press that can be programmed to clear the profile of any existing roof panel (screwdown , corrugated, or standing seam). They can be specified in any height to allow for additional insulation in the cavity between old and new roof (lowest profile 3/8" above top of existing high ribs). The top flange, normally 2", can be specified in larger widths, should new standing seam clips require a greater bearing surface.
The product is fully laboratory tested, design load charts are available to assist the architect or engineer with the correct gage selection. All material is G-90 galvanized. 16 gauge is 50 KSI structural grade steel.
The product significantly reduces labor cost over commonly used, make-do, multi-piece framing systems. The 10' lengths are simply dropped into position over the existing purlins and standard #12/14 1-1/4" T-2 self drilling fasteners (generally 2/l.f.) are drilled into the existing building purlins via pre-punched, bottom flange holes in the Roof Hugger base flange.

Our Advantages: - Saves up to 70% of labor on preparation of old roof.
- Requires only standard tools and fasteners.
- Precision punched notches act as continuous template.
- Punched pilot holes for rapid fastening into existing panels and support structurals.
- Unique "nesting" feature into old panel profile achieves rugged - stable - low silhouette connection system.
- Laboratory and load tested.
- Maintains integrity of structural design loadings. Engineering load charts from Test Data.
- Achieves "thermal break" air space between old and new roof sheets. Allows for optional blanket insulation.
- Eliminates need for removal of old roof sheets with its resultant high costs, business interruption and possible weather damage.

ECO-Fit

It is very important to understand that in a retrofit Metal-over-Metal application over an existing metal roof, the Roof Hugger sub-purlin will create an air-space cavity between the old and new roofs. This air-space presents several options to the contractor and building owner. Simply stated, the space can be used to improve the building inhabitant's comfort and environment as well as provide significant energy saving benefits. This is true whether the building is temperature controlled or not. From the very basic inclusion of a vented air-space, adding insulation or an integrated solar thermal water heating system, these composite assemblies provide a return on the building owner's investment beginning on the first day the retrofit is completed. All systems come with tax savings from simple tax deductions or significant tax credits.
