The structural use of steel for building supports has been developing since the very first steel skyscraper. As the structures become ever lighter and slimmer, the need for wider, clear space within a building requires an exoskeleton to support roof and wall structures. Macalloy's tension structure range of products has been developed to provide solutions for durable structural tension members to support such projects.

|
|
|
|
|
|
Jordahl Anchor Channels are a superior connection system for transferring loads in reinforced and unreinforced concrete components.
- Anchoring without damaging the concrete structure and reinforcement.
- Suitable for prestressed and post-tensioned structures
- High load capacity for static and dynamic loads
- Time efficient on site installation
- Skilled labor not required for installation
- Small edge difference
|
Whenever construction is carried-out, fully developed solutions in installation technology are required for joining components to one another, for suspending loads or for connecting building components to the concrete structure. Irrespective of the product application, quality and safety are fundamental to the selection of a connection system.

Decon® Studrails® |

|
Studrails® are a proven, cost-effective solution to punching shear at slab-column connections. Studrails® dramatically decrease labor costs, as well as reduce clutter and congestion at the slab column connection. Recently added applications for Studrails® include foundation slabs and post-tension anchorage zones.

|
|
Decon® Studrails® are commonly used in post tensioned or reinforced concrete slabs, with direct loading on columns. Drop panels, beams and column capitals may be eliminated, allowing the efficient use of fly-forms. The combination of Studrails® and fly-formwork will decrease the story turnaround time allowing fast-tracking of the construction schedule.

Benefits of Using Decon® Studrails®
Cut building costs without cutting corners.
Decon® Studrails® provide a lower overall in-place cost when compared to other existing punching shear control alternatives. Studrails® have been designed to reduce your formwork and labor costs by:
- Eliminating the need for column capitals and stirrups.
- Permitting more efficient use of fly-forms.
- Reducing installation time and effort versus conventional rebar stirrups and hairpins.
- Reducing congestion around slab-column connections, allowing quicker installation of conduit, PT tendons and other embedments.
|
Decon® Studrails® are engineered to enhance the strength and integrity of slab-column connections by:
- Distributing forces over a greater critical section to prevent punching shear.
- Providing higher ultimate strength and more ductile behavior of the concrete slab through efficient anchorage.
- Developing the full yield strength of the studs in tension and making it possible to use thinner post-tensioned slabs in designs governed by shear.
- Providing predetermined stud locations, virtually eliminating field placement errors.

The Decon® Studrail® SW is the original Studrail® design. In order to develop the full yield strength of the studs, it features large, specially engineered anchor heads studwelded to a steel base rail. The oversized heads, 10 times the cross-sectional area of the stud stems, provide superior anchorage and eliminate slippage, while the base rail provides bottom anchorage and ensures proper spacing of the studs..

The newly patented Decon® Studrail® CS features a unique double-headed stud design with the same large anchor head design area as the original Studrail® SW. Both heads provide secure anchorage in the slab. One end is mechanically crimped into a channel that provides proper stud spacing and bottom anchorage.

Foundation Studrails® feature longer stems and the same 10:1 head-to-stem area of Studrail® SW and Studrail® CS. They can be suspended upside down (from the flexural reinforcement in the foundation) or mounted in the traditional manner to enhance the punching shear capacity in foundations.

During an earthquake, rapid deterioration of the concrete slab can result if proper shear reinforcement is not provided. Under cyclic loading, unbalanced moments are transferred from the slab to the critical section around column capitals. These connections have been proven to fail in an explosive manner during those load reversals.
Decon® Studrails® are superior in withstanding these moments and maintain connection stability long after other systems have failed. They absorb energy with their ductile behavior. Lab test results show Studrails® provide superior ductility and lateral drift capacity when compared with conventional stirrups.
